if its any help the standby red light flashes about 4 times???

The Set has a fault.The flashing light indicates a diagnostic signal an engineer will understand.Contact a service provider.

ok, if your tv is in standby mode this is a detterant for thieves, try pressing a channel number (0-9) this may turn it on also have you got the proper remote or is it a universal one, if its a universal there is a code that you have to put in for those, check with the make and model of your tv in your universal remote manual if you have one.

Try unplugging from the supply for 5 minutes, then try again. Check the handbook for fault codes.

Switch it off and then on again on the tv change your TV channels it should come on.

You need new battery's for your remote! - or a new TV.
