Hey just heard that GM and Ford were thinking about merging. What's your opinion on this matter?

will never happen you are talking about two of the major car manufactures joining, when both have been for years striving to be #1, they will never agree with each other let alone join and become one.

I don't know what to say. Merging may mean the survival of both corporations. They would have a larger market share, for sure.
If they shared parts, they would risk confusing customers enough to run them away to another brand out of frustration.
The merger won't happen if the UAW gives up much, both go bankrupt and stiff all the retirees. Then they would be healthy again.
What a pitiful thought.

yea ive been waiting for gm to buy ford out and send them to the bone pile. and the nissan thing would be the worst decision ever made by a corprate smooze

FORD and GM are not merging...who ever told you that is very stupid....gmc is wanting NISSAN to buy them out but still run under the GMC brand...

sounds pretty bad to me...two struggling companies...

invest in toyota, honda , even tata motors for stocks
buy the preferred stock from gm and ford for the returns

wait until the dust settles, gm stock looking up; ford MIGHT get a reprieve if gas prices stay low enough , long enough for people to buy their 150 trucks...crap shoot , either way

on the other hand, it might be a marriage made in hell/heaven just to avoid being bought out by toyota, honda, or some chinese firm...

it could happen there greedy enough to make money but it might put people off because its not the original maker anymore sooo yer

they have the same labor problems, so i dont think they would gain alot and anti trust laws would probably prevent it anyway
