They seem quick to protest against the Pope with mass demonstrations, but they never protest against the violent/terrorist aspect within the religion by having a protest/demonstation.

I wouldn't say all, but certainly many. I, too, find the silence of the so-called "moderates" to be rather strange.

Do you understand that if 'all muslims' were intent on violence and terror against the west you would be seeing it everyday all day. Its like when people claim the quran tells muslims to kill all non muslims. How do they explain the fact that there have been muslim states for more than a thousand years where all religions got along just fine and in harmony? If it was true, and you met a muslim, wouldnt they have tried to kill you? Also, actually there are more Muslims than Roman Catholics by some distance, Rc population stands at about 1.1 billion as compared to 1.8 for Muslims

No they're definitely not all out to cause violence or terror against the West. Most are just everyday average people living their lives like you and I. It's a worldwide religion of 1 and a half billion people, second only ( I believe) , numbers-wise, to Roman Catholicism? Out of that amount, probably about 1% are actually actively militant and even far less than that are seriously willing to become violent, to become what we call a terrorist for example.

But, that having been said, my personal opinion is that there is not anywheres near enough public outcry from other Muslims about (and against) this type of behaviour when it does occur from within the ranks of their co-religionists. Which can make it appear as though they are approving, even if only "silently", what their more violent and aggressive co-religionists are doing or preaching.

No not all of them, but as the religion is based on terror the few peaceful ones are too afraid to speak out. There will be a war, but it will be short lived as muslims as a whole are a cowardly breed who only feel brave when hijacking a primary school and shooting 3 year olds through the back i.e. Beslan.
Put them against armed forces from any civilised country they fire their AK47 wildly in the air and then run praying allah will save them.
Know this, the day their oil runs out will be the last day the west will put up with their crap, the nukes will arrive the next morning.

On the BBC web-site, where this topic is also being discussed, there are many Muslims expressing how appalled they are by the hate mongers amongst their own religion.

The "them and us" mentality is not a trap any of us should lightly fall into. The old saying "By their fruits you shall know them" comes to mind here. Hatred and violence is the fruit of darkness, not Islam. Love and kindness are fruits of the light, and Islam casts no shadow. It is not Muslims Vs the rest; it is the men of hate and violence Vs all , (Muslims included), who desire peace, respect life, and value love.

Remember Northern Ireland to know what bitter fruits, bigotry and hatred bring. Now is the time for all those who want peace to join together in isolating those few who's hearts are possessed by the demons of hatred, anger, and violence, and to prevent them from dividing us apart onto opposite sides, where we can no longer support each other.

Moderates for the most part tend to possess personalities that don't lend toward loud demonstrations.
And since crime and violence is what tends to sell on the news who would pay attention to a Muslim moderate if they did protest and when they do protest or speak out? CNN wants blood and violence. The worst are full of passionate intensity and passionate intensity is what sells.

Isn't it lovely - the standard mohommedan answer to these sorts of questions - "You don't understand Islam". Perhaps we do, and that's the trouble. We tend to study a subject like that as part of our education. In mohommedan society, they study under the imam/mullah/ayatollah and therefore, in many cases are told only what that dignitary wants them to believe. (for example - the ayatollah in Iran claiming that the Pope's comments were part of a US/Zionist conspiracy - does he think Elvis is alive too I wonder?)
Not long ago, I was told by a friendly Rabbi that the bible could only be studied with a specialist Rabbi - same reason, same issues.
The koran, apart from being the book intended to provide a power threat for Mohommed in his hoped for wars of conquest, is insistent in applying the death penalty to anyone who dares question or criticise anything at all about the religion, its worshippers and its leader. So, if you are a good mohommedan, you'll kill when it says kill and torture when it says torture, happy in the (so-called) knowledge that god has personally approved your viciousness in accordance with his own tastes. (the bible isn't much better on that front - you shall destroy the memory of Amalek ! - in other words massacre them, men, women and children, even pets).
for this reason, perhaps the abrahamic holy books should be treated as obscenity/pornography and confiscated for destruction. We'd all be better off and safer without them.

No Islam is a religion of peace.
Unfortunately we in the West, through our media, only see the actions of very vocal fanatics and extremists.
If you look at the numbers of people that take part in violent demonstrations they are a very, very small minority.
What I find quite ironic is that when you accuse that minority of being intolerant they become exactly that.

I personally know Muslims that would not hesitate to condemn such appalling acts of violence, privately and amongst like minded Muslims. But speaking out publicly against it I believe would be a different matter altogether.

I have heard of a few Muslim protests against the Islamic terrorists, but those protests are never very big. They usually seem to be just a few organizers, their families, close friends, and the media. In contrast, protests against nonbelievers and the West have broad public appeal and often draw thousands of people.

As long as that is the state of affairs with Islam, it cannot be considered a religion of peace.

From the beginning, the architects and authors of Western "made-for-mass consumption junk, have been serving us a buffet of lies surrounding the religion of Islam and its history with the West. Not just out of government mouthpieces, but virtually the entire "fascist neo-con" talk show parade as well as almost every big-name Christian evangelist. Their message has been common and crude: The religion of Islam teaches hatred for all other faiths, most notably the Christian and Judaic.

Yet, they never point to history as proof of their own blind hatred greed and lust for Muslim blood, and the "fury" with which the the Christian West swept across the Mediterranean lands, forcing the conversion of Muslims to their filthy crass culture and pervert life style at the point and the barrel of a tank.
