Pioneer headunits and inside speakers(they have a wide price/feature range) Hifonics amps, audiobahn speakers
I got my system for about 1000 and it sounds as good as some 2000 dollar and up setups and its completly generic, you can check it out at my page link in my profile. Take someone that knows sound systems and prices well when you go to the shop because alot of shops dont post prices and they will try to get you if they sense (most of the time they do, got me the first time) you dont know what your talkin about or you just come in tossing money around like confetie, tell them your workin with about 300 to 400 less than what you really have to spend on the whole setup, if they stick with the prices then hey oh well but most of the time they will back off a bit tryin to keep the sales in the store.

The receiver doesn't matter any more as long as it has 200watts. Will you should know that if you want the best it cost more but in this case you want something that's is good but cheaper. SO for your amp, you should get a MTX on Ebay that people are bidding for it, instead of the buy Now one. There is this one really good amp that delivers 2000watts for 140 and that's a dam good price but I forgot what's the amp is call. I'm not sure but up to you, It might be call vision or something that starts with vis! This amp is heel big and when you don't want it any more, you can sell it to some stupid @$$ and say you bought it for like 400 but want only 200 or 150. Trust me, this amp is big and it looks like a 500$ amp. anyways, good luck and I hope the best for you!

The actual Stereo or head unit really doesn't matter anymore. What you need is a good amount of power from a clean amp and some good speakers. Your factory "stereo" can sound better than a Bose system with the proper amp and speakers. In general, I would say to look at Infinity amps and speakers. Very accurate sound.

check out audio video outlets on ebay. right now, id say the best equipment for the money is planet audio. he sells factory refurbished equipment on there at very very low prices. ive bought a head unit, subwoofers and 2 amps from him and never had a problem. most stuff he sells still has some factory warranty on it and he stands behind his products also. if you want to deal straight with him he'll give you better deals. email him at info@avoutlets.com or you can goto his website but it's not finished, not even half the products are listed. www.avoutlets.com

Look at Crutchfield.com. Get the cheapest Alpine with the features you want. Any other brand is a waste of time.
