Not to pick up the check?
Is it different for a man or a woman?
Shouldn't the woman see pretending to be interested as her meal ticket? Are overweight people entitled to more food?

You're likely to offend her if you don't still insist on paying. Why should that bother you? Well, if being a gentleman isn't sufficient motivation for you, consider that you don't know who *she* knows. Down the line, you might be angling to date some hot chick who turns you down for a date because your cheap reputation has gotten around.

You know your sign on name doesn't really connect with these question, because you're not judgesmart at all! Why are you asking these lame questions? Ok for the 1st question - If you don't want to pay the bill call the person up and cancel with your cheap butt! 2nd question - It depends on the boths income sometimes. Sometimes the woman doesn't mind paying if she's a big time executive and he's a plumber with the body of Adonis! The 3rd question doesn't even make sense to me and the 4th question about overweight people is offensive! And don't take this personally, my medication is wearing off! I love all people. I just get pissed when I don't take my meds!

Just out of courtesy (I'm assuming you are the one that asked him/her out), I would say it would be more elegant to pick the check even if it is clear that there will be no other dates after that particular one.
Very often asking someone out on a first date is your way of showing interest and if they (the one you asked) accepted, it would be a sign back to you of their willingness to give it a try. I say that deserves a treat.

If you asked her out you pay regardless of a second date.
