ive had the exact same thing, spacers dont hurt but they do come out easy so be careful with gum or anything chewy. theres nothing to the mold. ill be honest the appliance is pretty hard to get used to the first few weeks. the rods make a noise when u open yr mouth but its easy to get use to it, u wont notice after a few days. this is something my orthodonist didnt tell me about, then it happened to me, if u open yr mouth to wide like for yawning , the rods could get stuck but all u have to do is take yr fingers or tongue and wiggle them and they'll come unstuck. also make sure yr orthodonist gives u wax, incase yr gums get sore. hope this helps!

Spacers are just little rubber bands that will hold space between your teeth so that rings will fit around your teeth easily and comfortably. The mold of your teeth is a gooey material that will get rubbery in your mouth then removed and sent to a lab to create your "herbst appliance". The appliance is used to promote the growth of your lower jaw so that it can catch up with your upper jaw :). Sorry no personal experience, but it will help your mouth and make fixing your teeth with braces later on alot less complicated. You will feel discomfort and maybe a little pain in the beginning but your mouth will adjust. Good Luck!

What does it take to change into an orthodontist? All orthodontists are, at the start, dentists, yet in reality about six % of dentists are orthodontists. Admission to orthodontic submit-graduate courses is truly aggressive and selective. It takes many years to change into an orthodontist. As in medicine, the tutorial criteria are demanding. First, an orthodontist ought to finished college. next is a three- to 4-year graduate application at a dental college in a school or different company authorized by making use of the american Dental association (ADA). finally, there are a minimum of two or 3 years of advanced distinctiveness education in an ADA-authorized orthodontic residency application. this technique is confusing. It incorporates advanced understanding in biomedical, behavioral and user-friendly sciences. The orthodontic resident learns the complicated skills required to both deal with teeth move (orthodontics) and education guide facial progression (dentofacial orthopedics). in reality dentists who've effectively achieved this advanced distinctiveness education ought to call themselves orthodontists.

I am about to get braces and when i went to the orthodontist for the first time they looked at my teeth, put this big machin on my head that took pictures and then they put in spacers. To put in spacers they use these certain kind of plires and squeezed them in between your back teeth. It didn't hurt a lot. But afterwards you don't even know there there.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a dental assistant and it is fairly painless. The impressions are a mess because the aligante starts to peel when it hardens, but it doesn't taste bad or anything, usually it is minty. I used to have braces when I was a kid for 2 years...you'll be fine!! :)

It hurts at first but everything about braces hurt at the beginning and then it gets better. And believe me it's worth every bit of the pain at the end.
