Does anyone know if there's a term for having an overly keen sense of smell? Is it an actual "condition"? My sense of smell is incredible--and sometimes not such a good thing, depending on what I'm surrounded by, lol. Anyone else out there like me?

Really, if I'm in my car (and not even with the window down, but maybe the vents open to get fresh air), I can smell someone smoking a cigarette 4 or 5 cars in front of me, if I'm down-wind of it. That's just one example of many. Is this common?

Like you and Megan H, I, also, can smell cigarette smoke from several cars away, and if a smoker has been in an elevator sometime earlier, I can tell even quite a while later ... especially if they took the elevator up after going out to smoke!!

I, too, am a "super taster." When I go to delicatessans for sandwiches, I ask the sandwich maker to change their gloves, because, if they handled onions at any time while wearing their current gloves, I'll taste it on my sandwich and ruin the whole thing for me! I know ... Picky! Picky! Picky! But, I figure, I'm paying good money for my food, and I should be able to enjoy it.

Yes! It bugs me big time. I am a very picky eater too. I have heard that I am what is called a "super taster" our taste buds and sense of smell are just stronger than everyone else. I can smell a smoker from a few cars away too. I have a problem being around people who have strong perfume on too. It will make me sick. I don't know why or how we are like this. Or if there is a way to dull it. I can't stand it! If anyone knows how to dull it let me know.

Taking Zinc suppliments?
Zinc, which appears to help the transmission of signals along olfactory nerves, is often prescribed for people who have lost their sense of smell.

But when Zinc is taken as a nasal spray, it can cause a loss of the sense of smell.

Getting enough Vitamin B3????
Deficency will cause Hyperacute Sense of Smell.

Ever thought of getting a job with a parfumier? They would pay big bucks for people who could dissimulate odors from a batch of mixed scents.

it rather is gross... yet... it is in all probability the place you (and each people) emits the main efficient guy or woman self-scent... eeeeeeeewwwww... i think of that as quickly as a dogs's nostril is going for a butt, it rather is going for the source scent of a individual...
