ABSOLUTELY! That is a good interpretation of the apple story. Not only that, both Adam and Eve felt shame resulting in their desire to cover their bodies. Sad, isn't it?
This kind of thing, is beyond question, the source of the majority of our world troubles. Insult someone who suffers shame/guilt? Violence results.

If it wasn't there for Adam, then why bother putting it there at all? If God is all knowing, then he must have known what was going to happen. It wasn't really a test for Adam either, becausee God would have known already that Adam and Eve were going to eat from that tree.

God created Adam & Eve. He also knew they make up. He knew that they have curiosity, the ability to know . so God shouldn't have put that particular tree in there in the first place. Ok, who let the serpent entered the garden? God of course. They are supposed to know only of good but yet, the lord, God sold the idea to them, for he said "for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die" That means even death also was in existence. sorry, let me shut up.

No, I think God put it there to justify the trust He put in man before the angels. Then, when Adam blew it, He provided a way of redemption. [yes, provided - planned before the world was formed]
When Adam ate, he felt more than guilt! He felt separated (death) from God.

No, it just fit the story better. It would have been hard to get converts with just, "God created Adam and Eve and they lived happily ever after. The End."
It's religion. It doesn't have to make sense.

Is that an honest question? No GOD did not make the tree to have Adam eat, and feel guilty. God gave all humanity a choice, whether to serve him, or serve ourselves and live how we want.

No. The tree was there so that man could have a choice. Remember, there IS free will, but what's the point if we can't use it? God was simply giving man a choice between disobedience and obedience. God bless!

The story serves to remind us that we have a choice to follow Him or eventually suffer the consequences. He loves and wants us to make the right choice, but ultimately it's up to us.
Bless you
