When it comes to 9/11 Think Saudi Arabia. Most of the hijackers,&Osama Bin Laden came from S,A. They were financed by The Saudi Royal Family & the Bin Laden family as long as they operated out of Afghanistan. So when 9/11 occurried Bush, because his family are very close friends with both-The Royal Family & the Bin Ladens could not attact the real culprets, so Afghanistan having already been set up, he attacked there. Then, in his twisted little mind he tied to come up with a reason to attack Iraq. He made up a bunch of lies and attacked Iraq. Pay attention please: IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. OK? GET IT? GOT IT? good.
I will never defend Saddam, anyone the US backs for years, you can rest assured they are no good. However , that being said, Saddam if left alone took his evil out on his political enemies and their families. Ordinary people had it quite good. Education, hospitalization etc.
The 2 major exceptions to this were:
#1- When the US&UK supplied him with poison gas,(Contrary to the Geneva Conventions),To be used against Iran, he used quite a bit on his Kurdish population, which earned him a scathing tsk, tsk, from the US, remember they were buddies back then.
#2- At the end of Gulf War #1, Bushie senior, told the iraqi Shites in the south to rise up and the US would back them. Which they did and the US didn't. Now they are finding mass graves in southern Iraq, Who are they, you asked, you did ask? They my dear little ones are the Shites that Daddy Bush betrayed. By the way, do you know where Daddy Bush was on 9/11. Why he was in N.Y. in a meeting with Osamas brother, the one who had financed Little Bush in his failed oil explorations.
Sorry, to answer your ques. TheIraqies in general would be better off, the US taxpayer would be far better off, and the nearly 3000 American kids would be alive.
The Losers would be Halibuton and the othe war machine producing factory owners & investors. Their investors such as the Bush clan, Cheney, Rumsfield, who if i may remind you never did a dam* thing to protect had their.country, when they had a chance,& the rest of the shameless neo-cons, God Bless & help America

The Iraq war may have been justified but it didn't have to be carried out in such an incompetent manner.
All wars in the Middle East are partly 'hearts and minds' endeavours. Bush should have presented the war as a global attempt to remove a tyrant rather than an American led conquest.
His rhetoric before the war seemed actively designed to antagonise the whole world, including his allies.
As it is, the war has created more terrorists and sucked militant Muslims into Iraq.

No. If the war in Iraq didn't happen, the nameless, faceless power brokers who really rule this country behind the scenes would find another nation to invade for the very same reason: OIL.
Next we'll invade Iran for the very same reason: OIL.
Additionally, the power brokers are industrialists who need war so that they're mega companies can continue to make massive profits. That's why we've had the Korean Conflict, the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and Desert Storm. All so the military-industrial complex can sustain itself and make a handful of wealthy elitists even wealthier. -RKO-

it's really not good to play the "what if" game, because everything "could be better", and then that could cause a domino effect of what if's and then where would you be, you'd be what iffing your whole life. Besides, who says that things wouldn't have happend later rather than sooner? You're only asking the question because something has already happened. Before 9-11-01 that question didn't enter your mind because the situation hadn't occured yet. If something is gonna happen, it's gonna happen. What's done is done. Best thing you can do is deal with the situation at hand, work through it and move forward.

Better in terms of what? Do you mean, would the muslims love Christians? Or do you mean, would the arabs love the Jews? Or, would 9/11 have ever happened, to begin with? Would the WTC have been attacked, the first time? How about the 2nd time? Would the USS Cole have been attacked, or the two American embassies in Africa? Would the Marine barracks in Lebanon been blown up, killing 183 Marines and Navy corpsmen?
I don't believe anything would be different, except 2500 precious American lives would still be part of our lives. I will leave the mourning of the remaining lives to those who feel their loss!

I think I know what you mean, but consider the following
in nature, we see germs fighting each other, even our immune system fights other viruses trying to cause harm and reproduce inside of us
in other natural settings, look at neighboring ant or bee colonies, inevitably they clash and fight for space and yet have no religion
it seems there is a struggle for life all around, and most obvious in nature
if the War in Iraq never happened, and the US policies did not change, it would be just the next country to not acknowledge the US hegemony around the world and not be afraid of our threats and lowered credibility, like Iran
change our religion and policy, go by Constitution and ethics, principles, maybe war would not be first option and we would instead stick to economic hitmen and sanctions (equally as harmful)
peace isn't simply no fighting, it's diplomacy in action using wit and wisdom over brute strength and domination

There was no war in Iraq when the World Trade Towers was hit by passenger jets. No I do not think things would be better. There is a bunch of people that want to rule the world and are going at it as best they can. They will go to all lengths to accomplish this, killing innocents, attacking churches after they are insulted, calling all that do not fit their category infidels. This includes all western countries, Russia and China. They truly believe that people ought to pay them head taxes to live, or convert to Muslim. Otherwise off with the head. Now do you really think Iraq makes a difference?

War in Afghanistan was warranted. Iraq is pretty flimsy. All it did was unite the extremists against us and piss off the rest of the planet.

Well woulda shoulda coulda...
Since we ARE in a war, how about lending some support. Everyone is so darn sensitive now. How about ask... How do we win the war, because lets face it... the enemy is counting on opinions like yours. Start learning arabic, oh yeah, it won't matter because the radical muslims will call you a fake muslim and kill you anyway. Much better.
If we Americans had this crappy attitude in the 1940's, we'd all be speaking German.
