I marvel at the hypocrisy of some people, I mean look at this;

"The pope on Sunday said he was "deeply sorry" about the angry reaction to his speech last week in which he cited the words of a Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of Islam's Prophet Muhammad as "evil and inhuman" and referred to spreading Islam "by the sword.""

So, in response, they say...

"The group said Muslims would be victorious and addressed the pope as "the worshipper of the cross" saying "you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq,
Afghanistan,
Chechnya and elsewhere. ... We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (killed by) the sword."

.... That's nearly word for word what the pope had quoted about islam. Can they not see that they're proving it right? How dense can you get?

As one who often lacks tact, I am very surprised that a person in a powerful position would say something like that. He should know better.

It is also bothersome that any organization would believe that its human leader is infallible. The pope's comment shows this belief to be untrue. The comment was clearly a mistake.

Recently the church blasted those in civilized society who approach life from a scientific stance and said that they could take a lesson from the people in so called third world countries. While I can understand that the church is upset over its loss of power, perhaps it should try to understand how its comments and proclamations contribute to this problem.

The pope is condemned anyway for his religion.Catholicism is a false religion. No man sitting in a wooden box is going to save me from my sins.Only Jesus Christ the true savior can do that.
By the way.The pope is not my father.Jesus Christ alone is my father.Bowing down to the pope is the same as worshiping an idol.
Of course at the same time, the Jews turning their back on Jesus does nothing for the rabbi either. He will be judged for that also. He's in the same boat as the pope as far as religion is concerned.

Sure. No Jew-boy who doesn't believe in God can pass judgment on anyone, especially Christ's Vicar on earth, the Pope.
The Pope has every right to teach what must be learned (that doesn't happen very often)--if non-believers don't like it, they should change their ways.
Islam is one of many false religions, and not a peaceful one, at that. Muslims are busy persecuting Christians, everywhere around the globe. Of course, that's not going to make headline news.

the Pope as a world figure, and christian, should have known better than to recite from that ancient quote!

A major part of christian teachings is forgiveness, and another major part is compassion.

To quote ignorance is to continue misunderstanding, which often inflames hatred!

The Pope had every right to say what he said. I am sorry but the Rabbi's all say just what they want to say about us so why can't the Pope say what he said.

properly, Ulfsark, allecat and a pair of others have it impressive. As on your comments relating to the Pope and WWII, you teach which you be attentive to little approximately that era and his function. actual, you teach which you in no way bothered to confirm! So I won't waste my time on that section. As for helping extremely poor human beings and activities, you're able to do properly to envision the different pagans and Atheists in historic past. attempt as you are able to, you are able to not blame Christians for something executed earlier relating to the middle of the 400s whilst Christianity grew to become the State Church of Rome. all the atrocities of the Early Romans, Mongols and so on, have been all executed by NON-Christians and for the main section, PAGANS! additionally, a goodly bunch of issues later on additionally! i spotted a selection of of Atheists claiming to be "pagan" now-a-days additionally... properly... now we are able to upload Pol Pot, Stalin, Lenin, Castro, Mao and the leaders of maximum of Easter Europe from 1945 until the Iron Curtain fell. individually, i do unlike this pope, and quite, quite hated the single earlier, yet I refuse to lie approximately him inspite of the incontrovertible fact that.
