It's definetly a political document but some people think religion and state are the the same..i think not!

First, it's hard to separate political from religious. They both have similar elements. Commuist Manifesto is Religious in nature. Replace State with God and Comrade with Brothers and Sisters and you have Born Again communes!

But, the US consitution is neutral. There is a specific element that says NO ONE holding FEDERAL OFFICE has to put their hand on the bible or swear to any book or use the word GOD in order to take office.

You simply have to Uphold the Constitution, so help you!

No religious state or religion is to be recoginezed or given most favored nations status.

As proof of just how well this works, Scientology got declared a tax exempt religion by the US Tax courts and they get the same rights and privillages as Catholic and Protestant and Muslim and Jewish religions.

There is no mention of God anywhere in it. The Founding Fathers explicitly decided not to make it a religious document.
