There are a couple more things you can do to help. Your vet should have a spray that you treat your carpets with. Its fairly expensive, but it works very well. You should also treat your lawn with Ortho Max. It kills fleas and just about every other insect on your lawn for 3 months. Lastly, your vet should have these pills called Capstar. It will kill just about every insect on your pet for 24 straight hours, and there is no limit on how many times you can administer it. The Capstar runs about $2-$3 per pill. After about an hour, you can literally watch dead fleas fall off your pet. I had fleas really bad this year out at my place this year, and the combination of all those things finally fixed the problem. Good luck!

Make sure you are waiting 2 to 3 days before and after giving your dog a bath before applying the frontline. Also make sure you are applying it every month on time. You may still see fleas on your dogs because they do have to come in contact with the dog to be killed, however they should be small fleas. Go to the vet and pick up a pill called capstar, it's only live $5 and it will kill every flea on your dog for 24 hours but it can't be used as a flea preventative. It will basically give your frontline a good boost to get started.

I read somewhere that lavendar oil is supposed to repel fleas. This would be a natural remedy of course if you don't want to worry about setting your house up for flea bombs (those require all living things out of the house for a few hours). I've never tried it, but it certainly wouldn't hurt. You just put a drop on the back of the dogs neck and a few drops on their bedding.
My vet recommends K-9 Advantix. I bought some after our cat ran away and came home with fleas. It starts killing the fleas within 20 minutes and also works on ticks, mosquitos, and other mites. It can be pricey though. Mine was $15 for one months worth. I'm debating if I want to buy another month of it because before the cat ran away he had NEVER had a flea and he's outside alot (he likes to sun in the grass and play in his pool).
Good luck

I have a Golden mix puppy with a severe flea allergy and I live in Florida - two things that don't mix well...
I've sprayed my house and yard, but if the neighbors don't spray as well, she can still be picking up fleas from their yards when she gets close to the fence.
I was having a problem keeping them out of my house until I sprinkled diatomaceous earth in my carpets and on her bedding. I have noticed an big difference since I started using this.

i give my dogs minced garlic in their dinner, it helps from the inside. i have heard that you can out a teaspoon of vinegar in their drinking water, i have not tried this one yet.
as far as your house goes, sprinkle some moth ball crystal allover the carpet , let it sit for an hour or so and then vacum it up.
i use frontline and i have had good luck.
also there is a dip called "happy jack ,kennel dip ll" i also used this before i started using frontline and it really helped alot.
good luck i know this can be trying.
i just noticed that one of the other people suggested using diamatacious earth, DON'T use that it is a carcinogenic, it causes cancer.

My puppy had fleas for the longest time.. I couldn't get rid of them. I went to the store and bought the best shampoo that kills fleas & eggs on contact. i washed him with that, Keeping it on him for over 5 minutes. I then put a flea treatment on him, And I also put a flea collar on him.. I sprayed the house with flea killer you get at a pet store.. & He's been good ever since. :)

Yes. I have an idea for you. Get that dog outside in the yard where he belongs. Don't you know that is just disgusting to have any animal in your house. They go out and crap, lick themselves, play with dead animals, etc. Then you allow him back in your home to get on the furniture and scratch his dirty *** on your carpet. All you are doing with the Frontline is chasing the flees from your dog and onto your furniture and into your carpet. I have a dog that I love very much. She is an outside dog though. Where all animals belong. If she starts scratching, I can use Frontline on her once every 3-4 months instead of every month and she is good to go.

bathe him in a mix of 1 oz murphy's oil soap and 1/2 gallon of water. have him stand for 5-10 minutes then rinse. there is something in it that disolves the outer coating of the flea and it dries up and dies. it is also mild enough to use often.
