I love Earl Grey tea and think it's possible some of the same ingredients are in Chai, perhaps the bergamot.

Herbs and wood, of course. No really. Definitely cinnamon which is wood bark, and various herbs. No two recipes are the same, so it could have just about anything. Cloves, anise, ginger, whatever. The base is pretty much always some strong tea, but even that varies. Any strong, spiced tea could be called chai. Well, unless you're in india, then chai is simply the word for tea and it could be anything.

Chai has a combonation of ingredients to give it a herb-wood taste ----cinnamon, allspice, ginger,nutmeg,clove and cardamom
they all contribute the taste
