My elderly Pug has frequent eyes secreations. Right now he has a mild eye infection and has gotten an antibiotic shot and is on antibiotic pills. Our puppy likes to lick and clean the older dog's face and licks him in the eye area. The vet has left for the day. Can the eye infection be passed on to the puppy through him licking the pug?

No it will be fine.

Everyone wants to talk about being the alpha in the dog pack your puppy is going to be the nurturer. I have one he takes care of everybody. Licks their ears clean, eyes and tries to get their teeth.

I fostered a dog that had a full gash down the side of her body from jumping through a window. The vets finally quit stitching her up. I named her Stitch they sewed her up over and over. They finally released her to me and they couldn't believe how well she healed. My nurturer made her, growled at her to lay down so he could clean it for her.

My baby girl just hurt her ear real bad (lost part of it) on the fence. He licked it clean for her and took great care of her.

All my dogs think they are alpha in the pack - All five think they are in charge.

Very possible. Do not let the pup lick the infectious eyes; his immune system can not withhold what your older dog can deal with.

You should get an Elizabethan collar (cone shaped collar at PetSmart) for the older pug. That way, the pup can't get to his face.

Good Luck!

i would call another vet and ask, but actually it could help it heal quicker. my chihuahua cleans my big dog everyday. i think it is just a natural thing dogs do.
