Got an anywhere-in-US round-trip ticket. I need a vacation in a quiet place to do nothing but resting. Wants to stay in a clean inexpensive inn.

Overland Park, KS... once rated as the number one place to raise a family. Their idea of traffic is 3 cars on the road. You can't get quieter than that. Was there myself some 10 years ago... but I imagine it hasn't changed much. It is peaceful & beautiful.
Knoxville, TN... is another beautiful spot... though may be a bit more traffic than my first suggestion. But they have some beautiful homes to look at... never mind all the magnolia trees. You'll be very happy here as well. At least you'll be a hop-skip-n'jump from town so if you wanted a little action, you'd have both nearby. Oh... been here too... a few years ago.

Any of the small towns in Door County, Wisconsin are nice. Now would be a great time to visit there because the leaves are turning color! Another great place to go would be either Copper Harbor or Grand Marais in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan. They are quaint and quiet and BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
