I currently own a 2000 ford mustang gt and recently the ABS light as well as the traction light are on and refuse to go off. Incidently they went on after I had my engine rebuilt due to sucking up water through my intake. 3 months prior to the accident I had put brand new pads calipers and rotors on and everything was smooth. Then I blew the motor and couldnt afford to repair it at the time so it was stored at my friends dealership outdoors for the majority of winter. Is it possible the by leaving it outside for thos cold months could have messed it up? Or due you suspect it could be anything from a broken sensor to a broken wire???

IF the engine sucked water, I take it the thing was in a flood or something similar. That would mean the ABS module may have gotten wet as well and sitting for a long period without the engine being started it didn't dry out and rust or corrosion has invaded the module.

Hopefully that is not the case but you need to consider it.

I suggest you take it to a Ford dealer and get it analzed with one of their testers. It might only be a wheel sensor but without the analizer, you are just guessing. There are many solenoids and relays in an ABS system that could cause that light to come on.

I would take it to a mechanic to be sure but it sounds like a wheel speed sensor to me....it could be any of the four however!

It could be anything. Have you checked to see if the ABS is still working?

First thing to do is have the codes checked to find out what computer says.
