I wouldn't say it hurt per se, however it was uncomfortable. It hurt/aches when they adjust your braces. (The elastics pull your teeth where they need to go.) Also you will get sores where the braces rub on your gums. You can put dental wax on the spot.
Hope this helps. I think they are worth it.

It will hurt, but not as badly as you think. When you get them tightened, you will feel the pressure on your teeth, which will cause pain. But just take some Advil, and the pain will soon go away. My teeth were really bad when I got braces, but now they look really good. Trust me, it may not be a desired experience, but you will benefit from it in the end. Also, you may want to brush your teeth frequently; food can get stuck in there and will look nasty. You also may occasionally need chapstick. Hope this helped! :D

I had them a long while back and have friends who have just put them on again. It has some discomfort and can be down righ tpainfula t times, but it is tolerable. The bad pain is usually 1-2 days after the prthodontist adjusts them, then it gets better. Good luck

it doesnt hurt at all while they're putting them on, but for almost a week after it hurts to eat, try to stick with soft foods such as soups, yogurt, mashed potatos, and some ppl even eat baby food [but i wouldnt recommend it] when they tighten them every month it barely even hurts.. u just wont be able to eat hard food for about 1-2 days. but u look good after! cant wait to get mine off = ]

They do a little bit, but you will have to eat alot of softer foods b/c I had to. Don't eat anything to hard or it break your braces off. Bye.

It's extremely painful......they pull at your gums so much!!!!!
It feels like you are a horse when they start wiring and pulling on your jaw, and you can't spit or talk...it's awful...and the braces hurt bad for about a month from the pain of getting your jaw wired......don't get it done...please.......

Hell yeah they hurt. But you get use to it and in the end your teeth are beautiful, but you have to listen to everything they tell you to do otherwise you have to keep them on for longer and that means pain.

it's more of a soreness than actual pain, but it's all worth it in the end! just be sure to wear your retainer EVERYday when you get them off or you'll regret it!
