I think it's the fool who is the greater fool than the fool who follows the fool. After all, he's the leader of all the fools.

The first person to believe something. They would be the greater fool because they know they have others who listen to them, and who trust them. They should do more research to trust something before allowing others to believe it. The second fool is lesser because he trusts the first person which is a mistake but not as great a mistake as misleading others, on purpose or not.

Though I would not agree with calling anyone a "fool" it sounds to me that both would be equally foolish. Whose to say one would not know better than the other?
