I am so excited to hear of someone happy to be expecting a baby...Every other question on this subject has been about worries and unhappiness. Congratulations on being a grandma that is great for you. My two year old son cannot say "Grandma or Grandpa" so he calls them "Mamaw and Bampaw" its super sweet and we love it. He has a lot of mamaws and bampaws so we call them Mamaw Grace or things like that so he doesnt get confused. Anyway I could suggest that or when the baby is here just keep saying gramma and when the baby can talk maybe theyll call you what they want. That would be most special. Nah Nah or Nanna are popular like everyone else has suggested...Grammy, Grams, Mammy, Mamma, Nanny, Whichever you chose congrats again so happy to hear it!! :)

How about Mamaw, that's what my kids use for my mother-in-law, then there's Nana, that's what my mom likes. I used to call one of my grandmas Memaw and My husbands aunt's grand kids call her Mee-Mee. Then there's always Granny or Grammy, although the last two I reserve for Great-Grandmas. Just use whatever seems most natural to you!
Congrats on the new grand baby!!!

My friend refers to her daughter's grandmas as Nana Mary and Nana Donna. I lived in Kentucky for 4 years and a friend down there used the word Mee-Maw or Moo-Maw. I think Granny or Nanny is nice too.

Here is a suggestion. First of all to hear them babies call you grandma is WONDERFUL!! While he/she is getting bigger and you are holding them saying "Hi it's your Grandma" They will pronounce the way they can when they start talking. It might turn out to be something special!!

Oma-German, abuelita-Spanish
Nana, Granny, mama, gramma.
But remember when you grandbaby goes to the store to buy you birthday cards years from now, they will all say "To the World's best Grandma" with a few "nanas" in there.

My mother became a grandmother at the young age of 40. She refused to be called grandma. So - she picked Nauney (pronounced Naw-ney)...it's semi-hip and doesn't indicate that "granny" - "Nanna" - "old fogie" type feeling you're trying to avoid. =0)

Here's a hint to ensure that your little grand-darling can say your name very early-- Make sure it starts with an "M". Memaw, Mimi, Mamaw, Mumsy, etc. Babies learn to make the M sound pretty quickly. Congratulations!

Personally, I think you should pick one close to what you like and then let the baby call you what they come up with close to that. Grammy, Grandmom, Grandmother, Nannie, Nana, Granny, Memaw, or Mamaw are all popular around here. My step-mother started out calling herself Granny and my father was Papaw. However, my son changed the names to what he wanted, lol. He calls them Ginga and Paw.
