he left a long time ago and though im not really interested in a relationship with him, im curious about where he is and if i was to want to contact him, i would be able to. i know his name, age and think i can remember what he looks like, although that was 17 years ago. has anyone got experience with this stuff & could you help me?

Another thing you could do is look for his parents. Birth certificates in town halls, Baptism certificates, and maybe marriage certificates have people's places of birth, parents names, mother's maiden names and maybe other helpful information. If you have any idea where he came from you might be able to track down his relatives.
If you know of anyone who knew him you could ask them for as much information as possible about him as they can give you. Even something like, "I think he moved to Tucson" might give you some direction. (For example, property ownership records are public information.)
There are agencies, too, that will help you locate him for a fee.

If you do not want a relationship with your father you might be better off letting sleeping dogs lie. but if you want to go ahead you might try the Salvation Army, they have a good record for finding lost family members. Bear in mind he might not want to be found.

Public records in the state of his birth or last known residence. Good luck, been there, done that. Sometimes its better to know the FATHER we all share.

you can post his pic on the news paper, his name ,then your name and your pic.try to drop your phone number if you have any in other for him to contect you, when publish.this happen to someone i know ,but her own case was her brother and she find them this very year after 22 year.try this option i pray it will help in your case.
