Not sure what you are really trying to say here , but if you feel like he truly loves you then screw what the ex says , she is probably jealous

If I understand your question correctly, I don't believe that it is necessarily a male-female issue in regards to unnecessary cruelty. I've heard tale of many women who say horrible, ugly and cruel things to the men they love.
The question is - why are you putting up with it?

Because she's jealous that he likes you more than her. He probably still has feelings for her if she didn't call you and stuff she wouldn't be so freaking jealous. You're alot more mature than her and I wouldn't go fight her or anything just explain to the man you're dating that she is just getting jealous because she cant have him anymore and she wants to try and break you guys up just to get revenge.

A lot of men say they love you to either get what they want, like sex, or if the girl said it first they say it because they don't know how NOT to! Hard not to say it back to someone!!
