The usual question is "If God can do anything, can He make a rock so heavy He can't lift it?" Let's face it, if the question is "can He do anything He pleases," then the answer is "yes." Why He'd do it, I have no idea - but then, I don't understand a lot of the big plan, so that's not surprising. Of course, the answer to the other question might also be "yes." That's one of the good things about spirituality - it gets you to confront the fact that you aren't the biggest thing in the universe, and can't understand everything - look at the trouble humans have with concepts like "eternity," and "infinity."

I'm answering piraterachels question...Slavery had nothing to do with being black, until:
1) They survived longer and worked harder than both European whites and Native Americans (yes, initially slavery was for everyone)
2) (this is the biggie) Racism was created to justify continued enslavement of Africans and their children and their childrens children...

Yep. Why not he created the earth, animals people and everything on it. So why can't G-d do as He pleases? I'd like to see a person do that trick.

I agree with CPT on this one. I have wondered that myself. I also like to point out how silly it is for black people to be xians since slavery is O.K. in the bible. But they don't seem to mind. It doesn't make any sense to me at all.

What makes you think he would be pleased to make a rock that he couldn't lift. Answer your own question. It's ignorant!

Since God is not of this space-time continuum, there is no limit on His ability. In fact, an infinite being doesn't have limiting attributes, since they are meaningless.
"He" is first. "She" is second. God is neutral, but since pre-eminent HE IS.

I suppose we need to look at what Jesus told Satan, "You shall not temp the Lord your God." If he can crush me like an insect, why would I need to know?

Original.....replace it with Zeus and you sound just like the Greek philosophers who originally posed the question. As for that question, I don't know, won't you try asking him yourself.

If my God cannot lift the rock he created, he will smash it with his hammer. ;)
