I’ll be gathering with a group of friends and going on a hike in the mountains. Many years ago we use to gather bits of nature that showed signs of the changing season. These days we each take a camera and take pictures of things that speak to us. After our hike and a shared lunch we’ll head back to town and drop the film off at a 1 hour processor. We usually then go out for a bit to eat, pick up our pictures afterward and then head to someone’s house for ritual. Part of the ritual will be passing around the pictures we liked best.

Yea it is a bit 21st century but it treads more lightly on Mom.

Blessed Be

Wow, no one mentioned the requisite nudity and baby eating....

My husband and I are two pagans in a sea of christianity, and don't practice with a group. We mark the passing of the years with jokes and memories, and small offerings if plausible. Although, this is the first year we have a house (well, an apartment) to ourselves with no one else living in it. So, I'm hoping to put something together to share with a couple of christian-ish friends. And, actually, reading all of your celebration ideas has helped give me a few more ideas for our small party!

I acknowledge Autumn Equinox usually with my coven. We visit cemeteries in the afternoon and spend time in silent reflection. We have a family style thanksgiving dinner, featuring things harvested from our garden, sing Turn, Turn, Turn by the Byrds and call it lovely.
We honor the Solstices and Equinoxes as natural happenings. Our next religious observance will be Samhain which falls in the beginning of November.

We observe the equinox as marker of the passing of the season, rather than as a religious holiday. We will go to farm markets and have a feast, spend the day outdoors (if the weather will cooperate), and decorate our home for autumn. Our next religious holiday is Samhain.

house cleansing; blessing the food.. usually summery food that we will not be seeing on the shelves for the next six months, or be inclinded to eat even if it is there. then a cosy session talking about the summer, things that have happened, and what we hope will happen in the next quarter probably.
there is no fixed agenda for it... generally relaxed, with the quiet acknowledgement of the time of year, what has passed and what is ahead.

This year im going to throw a harvest party. I will play really good music. And I will be serving turkey or hens, with nice grains and nuts. Also I will be serving a variety of fresh breads and fruits.

And then we will discuss what we have gained from this year and how we will apply it to the next. As well as what are we grateful for.
