I would say that I have been disheartened by much of what I've seen here. I've known for a long time that religion is a dangerous disease, but I didn't realize just how ignorant some (and apparently, a lot) of people are. I originally assumed that most people had studied religion as much as I have, especially those claiming to be Christians.
But I have been sorely disappointed to find that, in many cases, it falls on my shoulders... THE ATHEIST'S SHOULDERS... to explain to many of these religious people what their own bible tells them. And I now understand better why there is so much religious insanity going on in this country. Apparently, most people really don't know what they believe, and what "god" they serve. And they simply follow the religious right into whatever insidious nonsense they steer them towards.
So I guess, basically, I haven't been turned off. But my resolve to fix this mess has been turned on. I realize now, more than ever before, this country needs atheists to stand up and be heard, and get these people out of the dark ages before they destroy us all.

I can think of two people that put put there web site in every post. The problem with doing so is that people have actually seen well done web sites and it makes their own sites look trivial by comparison. That could be why I always see the third guy that used to post his site now mentions it is being renovated.
Yeah anyway I can't stand those guys. Thankfully fireball doesn't have one though. But I don't need another reason there...

I once was Christian, and people tried to get me to believe in the bible blindly, so I broke free of that religion. I tried it, I am done. But then people come preaching me to at least try to accept Jesus or just go to church, and they don't even stop to realize that maybe I allready tried it. Some people aren't right for certain religions, and I am one of them.

Very much. All that has happened to me, and they began calling my house and asked me what was so important that I quit church. Because nothing's more important than Jeebus! Budda? Never heard of him. Atheist? Come back, your beliefs only need a little tweaking.

Absolutely Spookshow, there's one woman I won't name (screenmane rhymes with "hireball" that answers every question with the same answer over and over. This person has no thoughts of her own, none. I find that extremely annoying.

Spookshow Baby:
I read you profile. I understand your question. But, at what point will you seek the internal peace that you will not find by simply "worshiping" self and nature?
No need to answer here, but if you ever are interested in real dialog, contact me.

Haha, those people are hilarious. Usually I ask them biblical questions, like how one is supposed to treat slaves, or why it is sinful to shave, and they have no idea how to respond.

Id have to say yes, people have personal spaces and christians like to invade them. (so do mormons and jehova witnesses, but then no1 likes them either - cause they always knocking on your door trying to convert you). if we wanted their thoughts on religion we'd seek them out.
