British Red Cross - along with all the other Red Cross and Red Crescent organisations around the world are humanitarian organisations that provide care to those in need: in waqr zones, after natural disasters etc.

They also provide Health and Safety training especially in First Aid. In addition to St. John Ambulance they provide First Aid/Emergency at social events throughout the UK.

The Red Cross was created in the 19th century by a Swiss man called Henri Dunant who reversed the national flag of his country to come up with the organisational motif. He did this following a particularly bloody battle during the wars of Italian independence - Solferino.

The Red Cross have been made particularly famous for the food parcels that they circulated to prisoners of war in WWII.

Its a symbol of peace, nurses long ago wore a blue cross to symbolise they are a nurse, the red cross a red cross, same thing. The red cross is a free charity that offers medical and safety skills and it is a charity which survives with donations. They also offer disabled people use of chairs, walking aids etc which has been donated to them. They were more popular years ago than today. They also attend big events and offer free first aid. Its a real worthwhile charity and doesn't get enough gratitude.
