Cause I know that theres some not all non-believers who think that some not all believers in God have committed intellectual suicide.

Just asking.

That would be like some (not all) kettles calling all the pots black.

Agnosticism is the intellectual continuum.

I'm sure that there are a lot of atheists that think that people of faith have committed "intellectual suicide" in refusing to see the science of evolution, etc. (ignoring proven science in lieu of blind faith in something that can't be proven)

I doubt that people of faith view atheists and agnostics as having committed "intellectual suicide" because atheists, according to most faith believing people, rely too much on intelligence and not enough on God (trying to explain away things through science rather than having faith).

Hope this helps!

I think it's intellectual suicide to believe in something that you have absolutely no proof for. That's not what intellecutals do. Intellectuals gather evidence, then decide based on evidence. Without evidence, they don't believe. Simple as that. Believers skip the evidence part, and head right to the deciding part.

Pascal's wager doesn't faze me in the slightest as wagering against infinite possibilities is also intellectual suicide.

You can not lumb any group of people - theist or antheist - into any one "belief". You can find a theist who believes anything you want. And the same for an atheist. Members of both groups have reached their beliefs, some by emotions, some by upbringing, some by ignornace, and some by intelletual questioning. Neither group is smarter, dumber. more brainwashed, less open to the facts, or anything else then the other. They just have different beliefs in the area of God.

Some memebers of each group are smart enought to know that. Others are not.

Spiritual suicide. It doesn't matter how smart or dumb you are. Most intellectual people think they have it all figured out. That everything is okie dokie.Atheists usually tend to be more predictable.More gullible, and can be deceived easier. Therefore, they will be the ones who bow down and take the mark of the beast in the end times. They will also be the ones who think the Antichrist will be the true messiah when he is slain and rises from the dead.Atheists are also the ones who will lose their heads right beside a christian and a Jew when they don't convert to Islam. Then again, atheists might just convert to Islam just to save their hide.Doesn't matter though. To deny Christ will condemn you to devils hell.Atheists are also complacent when it comes to their freedom. Most seem to consider themselves untouchable. All a christian can do is to make sure to witness to them and hope the lord works in their heart.

Some religious people may believe that, but this Christian's not buying it. Atheists are proclaiming the truth as they see it; they are doing what they feel is right. Critically examining the statements of others is hardly what I'd call "intellectual suicide". My only complaint is when they act as if the rest of us aren't asking questions, as well, or go around pretending that all believers are automatically closed off to further discussion regarding matters of faith.

No, not intellectual suicide. But I view Atheism as a belief that there's no God, but nothing more. I do believe in God, and I TRY to convince Atheists (I didn't meet any, but that's what I would do), logically, about God's existence. Atheists aren't stupid, they just lack faith.

Peace

Dear Asannia, In my opinion, it is simply the fact that you are so very intelligent that allowed you to see through the layers of deception. Perhaps there is a correlation between your intelligence and integrity that caused you to struggle through, certainly you would not have survived if you did not have sufficient mental toughness. I am personally glad you did. I do not think that abuse is the only path to understanding, but it is certainly a common way of culling those who either will not or cannot persevere. If you ever need or want someone to talk to about the nature of things, I would be honored to hear from you, and if you ever just need someone to commiserate I will listen with a compassionate ear. It is rare to encounter someone with such a lyrical manner of expression, and so many similar views. It is a distinct pleasure to meet you, Asannia!
