You don't say how old he is.
However, no, its not normal for him to do that and you might want to check with your vet. He could have a UTI (urinary tract infection) or something else going on.
Dogs do not normally potty or poop in their sleeping space. Small puppies might simply because they don't have good bladder control, but adult dogs pretty much never do unless there is something wrong.
Please, call the vet about it!
Good luck and Goddess Bless!

You might have tried this but here goes anyway, make sure that his basket has been thoroughly cleaned with a product that removes all traces of dog urine and the same goes for his bedding. If your wee fella can smell his urine it encourages him to urinate there rather than where he should. If you have a wicker basket swap it for a plastic one until he gets over this wee hiccough. It is very unusual for a West Highland White Terrier to urinate where he sleeps if you do this and he still continues with this behaviour it would be correct to take him to a vet. Best of luck to you and the wee man.

How old is your dog?
We had a North American Bitsa (bits of this and bits of that!), we noticed that we she fell into a deep sleep, she would wet just a bit. She was about 14 when this started.
Our vet checked her over and said that when some female dogs are fixed young (about 6 months) and as they age, their hormone levels drop, just like human females. So she was put on estrogen, this helped her to stop wetting when sound asleep.
Of course, we first had her checked for any other illnesses associated with wetting.

Possible bladder infection. Bring the poor pet to the vet can be painful, if he was rescued from a centre he could have been treated badly in the past and still be traumatised. \hope you get it sorted
