It wouldn't have much impact if you've been doing it before. The first few days are hard. But as time goes on you will feel healthy and also you should feel some sort of spiritual increase for your faith and God.

I have a muslim friend that observes Ramadan every year. I would just like to say that she is naturally very skinny but she is not anorexic. I would just try and eat something nutritious after 5 and try not to think about food. MIND OVER MATTER

Well, I'm Jewish, and I'll be fasting 25 hours straight, on Yom Kippur (see link) - that includes no food and no liquids.

For observant Muslims, Ramada means eating, drinking, smoking and sexual intercourse are not allowed between dawn and sunset.
That is very easy, unless you have health issues.

Best to consult with your doctor and make sure there aren't any blood sugar issues.

Hi TIna

Dont try to over-eat at aftaar, try to just take a aftaar, full of fruits, then offer magraib prayer, and take ur dinner after one hour of prayer. This ways u can loose weight, and ramzan would be very beneficial for u, from health point of view. Otherwise, if u do over-eat at aftaar and dinner, u would end gaining weight in Ramzan.

A lot of Religions Fast. You are basically making a sacrifice of personal comfort for something greater. Whatever your reason, just be smart. Listen to your body and drink as much water as you are "allowed"

are you sure you're muslim? you sound lost on this concept haven't you been prepared?

you should have a tutor or a guide to help you during this process if it's your first.

matter of fact the first time is the special time, someone should be with you, participating.

fasting makes me a little nervous. I appreciate the religious devotion behind it though. I'd kinda like to do this too. . .

If you are doing it for those reasons .Forget it ..it will not be accepted By Allah ..fasting is not about dieting only..and you should fast willingly not half heartily..
