True? Possibly. Healthy? No. Rice has little (if any) nutritional value (exp white rice) so you'd be getting some calories and carbs, but nothing else really...not to mention it's pretty darned bland.
If youwant to lose weight (not loose...that's what you want your pants to be after getting the pounds off) then eat sensibly, a healthy balance diet, and exercise about 5x a week for an hour a day (all at once or broken up to fit your schedule).
Don't go for gimmicks...they rarely work...and those that do, are usually unhealthy and as soon as you stop using them, the weight comes right back on (and brings friends with it)...

Yes you will loose weight and muscle tone and maybe hair and your blood sugar levels will go haywire. Plain white rice has very little nutirional value other than carbohydrates that convert very quickly to sugars. That's why when you eat chinese food you are hungry 30 minutes later.
You will loose weight if you eat smaller portions of healthy foods. Some people do better eating several small meals throughout the day than the usual 3 meals.

It depends on what you define and 'plain' rice. In the US most rice is bleached which mean all the fiber and nutrition has been removed. It also has a very high glycemic index, which means it is very rapidily converted into sugars which go directly into your bloodstream. You will get a sugar high then crash.
Now if the 'plain rice' is brown rice, then that is the whole different matter. It has a lower glycemic index and will tend to keep you full so you don't eat. This is the rice that the Chinese eat. I would suggest eating vegetables and lean meats with it.

NO! Whoever told you that needs to be educated in nutrition.
Your body needs a variety of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids (the things that make up proteins) to function correctly. Your diet should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.
Instead of focusing on the number on the scale, focus on making good choices that will make you more healthy. Try to eat small meals every three hours instead of three large meals. This will keep your blood sugar more stable, and fuel your metabolism.
Work out 4 or 5 days a week. Go for a long walk or a bike ride, hit the gym-- whatever works for you!
Stay away from gimmicky diets. They don't work.

OK even if you could hold out for 2 weeks...rice gets very dull after a while! Imagine "rice again" yuck! Plus it's not good for you. Too many empty carbs. It fills you up fast and leaves you hungry shortly there after. If you are referring to the RICE diet... which isn't strictly rice at all I found a good link for you and it gives you an example of a week of meals

good luck

Try the links below. They are about the diet/weight loss program from Duke University. It is supposed to be one of the best. They used to have lots of on-line support and recipes.
It isn't just rice.

Rice is rich in carbs so beware of too much of rice consumption. My hubby has lost a lot of weight by avoiding rice in his diet. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

sounds awful, and food that has little nutritional value.
How about eating nothing but fruits, vegetables, nuts, lean meats, whole grain breads and cereals, and some low fat dairy products for two weeks.
Now, what sounds like a better "diet"?
The day of the fad diet is over. the new fad diet is to eat healthfully for the rest of your life.
Hey- you can lose weight eating nothing but marshmellows, if you limit yourself to 900 calories of marshmellows every day. It doesn't make it a good diet.

sure you will lose weight because you will be denying your body of nutrients you need. Rice is a low calorie food, but its also a starchy food. So if you are prone to starch weight gain all you will be doing is hurting yourself.
And its certainly not healthy

Nope, rice contains a lot of carbohydrates. You need nutrients from different foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, protein, etc.
Just because Survivor contestants lived off of it for days on end doesn't mean that you can.
