people make religion violent?

Yes, so long as the religion isn't requesting it's people to be violent.
Religion, by Webster's definition is a group of moral beliefs that are upheld zealously by its followers.
If the "religion" at it's core is insinuating the death and destruction of a group of people simply because of their beliefs, that would be a case of religion making people violent.

you must be smoking some thing good if you think that way.
any orginized religion like christianity and islam are normaly built around a volient idea like war or killing or complete destruction of others who do not believe as they do. so i dont think its the people its the religion that makes a person.
i have been told time and time again there are fanatics in all religions not just christianity but heres the thing.. christianity and islam are the loudest and more up front about it than any other religion in history. so how am i to know there are fanatics in other religions? i dont know if they are because they are not loud like christians are
heres another little factor some people look at the bible as a sheild when they are in courts and they even try to defend there faith with more hateful insults like your going to hell crap since we dont believe as you do. i dont think any one can truely blame it on the person but religions like christianity and islam are and have always been the loudest about there religion and we see it as being the most volient religions on the planet.

Both is true, religion itself is usually non violent but people use it as an excuse to turn violient. I think its used as an excuse by the ignorant and small minded.

With that said, I think there's a lot of influence from the book to make people violent because the bible condones it.
