In a really severe case, it can move past the kidneys and into the bloodstream where it can cause death by sepsis.

not sure...but maybe...my mms friend was trying to get pregnant, and couldn't. she then went to the doctors and they said she had an infection...got on meds and two weeks later she was pregnant, so I what I'm trying to say is if the infection doesn't go away all the way it could cause problems....
