My sister and her husband have been unable to conceive and want to have a family more than anything. They would love to adopt a child and are open to infants or older children (even a brother/sister combo) up to 7-8 years old. They don't want to foster a child because the heartbreak would be too much if the crack addict mother came back and took the child. They want a clean adoption and don't have the big bucks it takes to go to China or to adopt through a private agency. How can they adopt if they don't have all sorts of money? Please help me find some resources for them because they would be fantastic, loving parents. Thank you, everyone!!!

The couple lives in Pennsylvania.

Does anyone have any web sites that would be useful?

Many states have foster/adopt placements (a foster placement for the intention of future adoption). This would greatly reduce the risk of losing the foster child prior to adoption. Foster agencies also end up adopting out children once the parents rights have been terminated. I understand their hesitation to grow close to a child and then experience the heartbreak of seeing the child returned to a bad situation; however, they should check with their local foster agency and see what they offer. This could be an excellent opportunity for them to get the family they want for considerable less money than the traditional or international adoption route.

Also if they check out several adoption agencies, they may be able to get grants or special discounted reduced rates if they take "special needs" kids. In their case taking a child over the age of 2 or a sibling group can be considered "special needs".

Good Bless and Good Luck!

If they are that desperate to parent, then they should foster. Every time you hear about an adoption, what you fail to hear is about how some poor woman was conned into giving up her flesh and blood. About how granparents, aunts, uncles and siblings have all lost a family member.

Adoption is about finding homes for children in need. There are thousands of children waiting in foster care, and lots of them are available for adoption, but they never will be because selfish couples like this one wont "risk the heartache".

PArenting isn't easy. Sometimes its very hard. And potential heartache is around every corner.

Send them to foster care.

In the US...you can do open adoption or private adoption. If you do it that way, it only cost you lawyer and court fees. Its all credited back to you under 10 k when you do your taxes at the end of the year.

My first question would be were does she live? If it is in the US every major city has a local adoption through that city our state. There are a bunch of great kids that are waiting on good people. Check it out and repost your findings.

Tell them to go to the local DCFS or DHS or whatever it's called in your area, and apply for adoption through there. It can be a ton cheaper, and sometimes easier too.

you could always become foster parents and that way there the state actually pays you and you could actually adopt some of them if you wanted to.
