I am trying to lose weight but cannot give up pizza altogether. I'm only going to order 1-2 times a month tops. I'm looking for tips as to how I can order a healthier pizza from a pizzeria. Should I ask for less cheese? Should it be thinner crust? Less sauce?

If you want to order out rather than buy frozen pizzas or make it yourself, there are a couple things to consider. If you have the option of whole wheat crust, I'd order that over white crust. Thin crust has less calories than regular or deep dish. Defintely reduce the quantity of cheese used. Avoid the meats as they are very high in fat. Pile on the veggies. However, if you like olives, they are also fatty (but good fats). Make sure you limit the quantity of olives on the pizza.

Of course, you can order a regular ordinary pizza with all the fixings if you like. If that's the case, just limit yourself to two slices. If you think you'll still be hungry after that, make sure you have salad at home to round out your meal. You can load up on the salad so you don't go crazy with the pizza. Just limit or make better choices for salad dressing.

Frozen pizza's may be less dense in calories but they still aren't considered 'healthy.' The sodium content is usually extremely high and there are a lot of preservatives. At least delivery pizza is somewhat 'fresh.' It's best to make your own; more satisfying and delicious.

Just order what you normally get just order a smaller size or eat fewer slices. The best way to lose weight is not to deny yourself foods you normally eat. Just eat smaller portions or if you pig out then exercise more to make up for the extra calories.

Its best to make your own at home that way you know it will be healthy. If you do order stay away from cheese & meat cause thats where all the fat is.
