Artists in our country profit with pictures of Christian figures with elephant dung on thier face, and people continually mock and make fun of the Christian faith. However when cartoons of the islamic prophet muhammed come out very few in the press show it. They claim sensitivity but the bottom line is that they feared the violence that may brought upon them by the "religion of peace". The pope recently made a stand and made remarks about how violent Islam was and muslims protested with what? Violence, thus supporting the Pope's assersion. My question is this: Why in our country, Comedy Central is completely comfortable making fun of Jesus and Christianity, but pull anything that makes fun of Islam? Why do people wear t-shirts everyday that make fun of Jesus, but none would dare wear a shirt poking fun at muhammed? Why do we see the virgin Mary covered in dung in an art gallery but never muhammed? Do we fear violence from the followers of muhammed? If not...

Is it just that we are so bigoted that we would favor Islam over Christianity?

The USA citizens, well, alot of them are cowards. Esecially on lefty winged yahoo. You can see by the very answers posted here. This country is going to die because of people like this. The whole "tolerance" is killing Americans every day.

It is going to take another act of terrorism to wake up the people who were united with us on Sep 12, 2001, but as time faded, so did they.

Another Spet 11 kind of attack , and we might wake up some people to realize, its not just a "handful" of muslims. Its all of them. Koran demands this type of action. For anyone who claims to have read it , and says it preaches love and peace is a liar. Its a book of war. Plain and simple. The muslims are only doing what their religion teaches them to do. American muslims have warned us against attacks from inside the USA, and the press ignores it. A muslims runs over 12 people in his SUV in California in a Jewish neighborhood, and they call it road rage. A muslims shoots people in a Jewish center and kills them, and it gets swept under the rug in the American media.

Someone help us, now !

We are a nation of humans. Humans are painfully aware of their own inevitable death, and that makes them a bit touchy. We have discovered that the best way to distract ourselves from the frightening knowledge that we don't really matter all that much is to persuade ourselves that other people matter even less. To that extent our cowardice makes us hateful bigots.

The most frightening thing in the world is love. It demands that we surrender all of our own posturing and self-protective fist-waving self-righteousness and treat our fellow humans as we would like to be treated.

That's very difficult for Americans, who, by and large have been led by the endlessly repeated message of the television commercial to believe that the self comes first.

It is neither. It is due to our tolerance that we feel comfortable making fun of Christianity. However, we know that others are not as tolerant and it could get people killed to make fun of Islam. Nothing to do with cowardice or bigotry on our part...just common sense to not provoke those who get hyper-defensive and blow up buses full of children when they feel the need for "revenge".

many times a bigot, as they obtain their perspectives some team of others from others who additionally hate that team (as adversarial to utilising observational consistent with-person records). in specific situations a coward, yet no longer continuously as that relies upon on the guy and their behaviors. i do no longer distinguish between "cowardly" and "heroic" varieties of attack, nor do I degrade anonymity despite if it extremely is forced by society.

*snore* The whole Christian oppression thing in the U.S. is, quite frankly, bull-garbage.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_coun2.htm

The U.S. is 61% protestant, 23% Roman Catholic. That's 84% of the population. You're not oppressed.

By the way, Comedy Central has been airing a South Park episode showing a depiction of Mohammed for years now entitled "Super Best Friends":

Thus, your point is moot.

I hope it's because we are sophisticated enough with our religion not to bash others just because they bash us. We know God wouldn't want us to kill someone for making fun of him. We have to love each other as Jesus loves us, even if it means not killing people for mocking our religion. We have to be better than the rest, not join them.

Christians haven't gone completely psycho like some of the Muslims have so they are safer to target. Also, Christianity is the predominant delusion in America so it is the natural target of choice.

Another good thing about having so many denominations. If you make fun of one there are about 1000 other ones.

Do you think it's cowardly to refrain from slapping the face of a guy who's threatening to kill you?
