Wow I too am a mother in Mobile, I cant believe the suspend her over a tongue ring but go figure out this school system, Oh I'm not originally from here. I took my daughter out and placed her in Northway Christian Academy it is located on Lott Rd in Semmes,,they might work out something with you on payments so she could attend,,she would also receive a diploma when she finishes there too..My daughter loved it and I liked the staff. Good Luck

If you register with a charter school, you have access to state funding to purchase school supplies through the school. I have home schooled for 7 years and it has never been a problem financially. However, it is a huge commitment for both the parent and the student. You will be required to put together portfolios of your child's work throughout the year for the state, unless you have access to an Educational Specialist through a charter school who will do this for you.
It's troublesome that your daughter has not been taught that she needs to follow rules to get by in life and be successful in whatever she chooses to do ~ no different than the rest of us. I have doubts that homeschooling is the solution to your problems as it takes a lot of time and structure to be successful in such a program. Your daughter is in this situation because she is rebelling against rules in a structured atmosphere. I have seen many kids who come into a home school program for the same reason as your daughter ~ rebellion/defiance ~ and it very rarely works out for children with attitudes as such. Best of luck to you as you will be needing it.

Please understand that your daughter is your daughter and she will lose the tongue ring until she is 18 or 21. You are her mother not her friend.I believe you want her to get better opportunities than you had. Talk to her school to get her reinstated. Do not let a child dictate to you. Education is the key and she has no right to do as she pleases. Since you only make 150 dollars a week, this indicates that you struggle because of your lack of education. I don't think you want this for your child.Take privileges away, hire a baby sitter to watch her and make her go to school. You might consider putting her on birth control given the fact that she can have a tongue ring.Who knows what other crap she's gotten herself into?I really want you and your daughter to succeed. It's up to you. Please take control of your child. Her future depends on you. You love her. Now it's time to guide her to a great future.

There is Christian Liberty Academy based in Arlington Heights, IL. But it takes A LOT of work on both parent & child.

What exactly does Mobile's school district offer in home schooling. I see they call their people tutors. They have an application process for approval. Am I telling you something you already knew?
