Is it easier now to counterfeit US money or did someone come out with some way to hack a dollar?

I actually make money for the U.S.A. government. Sometimes when we have issues with a bank or a certain person we will purposely create counterfeit bills that will pass initial inspection and be delivered to that party. Eventually it will be found that they are dealing with counterfeit bills publicly, and upon that time we confiscate the bills from them and attempt to frame them with legal action. Usually some of the counterfeit bills are spent or traded before we retrieve them (to destroy them) which is how some get into circulation.

Great question. I read the link you attached. I think it explains it about as well as it can be explained.

My best guess is that as technology advances it becomes easier to duplicate the process. It's getting harder to tell the original from the copy sometimes.
