I just bought a 2.5 month old Siamese kitten a couple days ago who cries whenever I'm out of sight. So I let her sleep with me and I'm wondering if I'm hindering her growing to be a independent cat?

No, you are meeting her emotional needs right now and that is important. Siamese cats can become very attached to their humans and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

I would always take kittens in pairs however. You have a human life with family, friends, co-workers etc.

I love what Anitra Frazier has to say about this: "What if you were owned by the most wonderful elephant in the world. You love her dearly and she dotes on your every move. She gives you the very best food, ...everything you want plus a few extra things you never thought of to surprise and delight you. In short, she gives you everything your heart could possibly desire except...another human....Need I say more."

Watch out for those Siamese in bed. My two (ages 1 and 3) love to bite my toes all night. They started out as kittens too and now they won't sleep in their own bed! She'll most likely sleep with you forever, but at least you'll have a cute kitty to cuddle with.

My cat is 12 years old- extremely independant but still sleeps with me.
Cats have a mind of their own, they will sleep where ever they want.
She is probably just scared and needs some reasurrance right now. Give her a couple of weeks and she will be fine.

Pets haven´t lost anything in your bed!Especially a cat who
has to devellop an independant personality must learn the sooner the better to stand on her own.Exactly, you´re hindering
her growing to be independant.Just let an animal be ab animal.
A cat is NOT a ragdoll,not a toy.Of course,it´s more comfortable
to them getting spoiled,so they act as cry-babies.You don´t do
your cat a favour by being her nurse, mommy, slave.
For the sake of your cat, don´t believe the ignorant-emotional-
pseudoromantic dumb###es!

I have a 17 year old cat and two year old cat that sleep nowhere else but on the bed. The others come and go, but those two always do.

A cat is never too old to sleep with you. It will in no way hinder the cat.

do you want her to sleep with you or not it's up to you if you like her being there then let her be, there is nothing wrong with a loving cat. you don't want her to be too independant and her hide under a bed all day and night and just come out for food, water and litter box.

Pets are not like children. They are never too old to sleep in your bed. They do not have the same mentality as humans. Pets see us as their "pack". As such, they like to be close where they feel secure and safe. Just relax and enjoy your new companion. Cats do not do what they do not want to do. You will not hinder her development.

I'm sorry but you really shouldn't be encouraging that. I know cats are clean creatures but they don't take their shoes off before they go to bed (or wipe their bottoms for that matter) if you get what I mean. Why not buy her one of those snuggly beds that you can put on the radiator in your room, they like them.
