Isn't this where it all began? Everything which was, is, and will ever be allegedly got it's start right there. How could creatures which existed for millions of years be overlooked? Did Australipithicus ,Neanderthals or Cro-Magnon exist alongside Adam & Eve? Please don't say God works in mysterious ways, just give me clear, concise, to the point, layman's terms answers.

And spare me lectures and references to the bible. This is a general question.

Because the authors of the bible, when writing thier mythology, were unaware that dinosarus existed.
After all, if the book WAS divinely inspired, you'd think the magic sky-pixie would have told them about dinosaurs.
Not to mention all of the myriad other things that are blatant mistakes in the 'wholly babble'...

Why aren't lemurs mentioned in genesis. Genesis mentions only a few, and is very cryptic. I don't think it was meant to explain, in detail, the exact scientific method of creation, but to give us a general introduction. Look at the story of Job. God mentions the behemoth, and Leviathon. I don't know what these are, but they sound pretty terrible. Behemoth in particular sounds like a brontasaurus. Oh, and I don't believe that Cro-magnon ever existed as some say he did. I believe that all of these so called hominids are human beings.

Do you realize how big the Bible would have to be to mention everything? Why doesn't it mention Alpha Centari? Or walking catfish?

Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 could have billions of years of space in between them. We don't know how many times God destroyed and re-created things. He did tell Adam and Eve to "replenish" the earth rather than "plenish", which means, He may have been starting over.

For the same reason that mountain goats, penguins, leopards, and spotted gheckos are not mentioned: the Bible, and Genesis in particular, are NOT zoological archives. Very few actual creatures are mentioned by name; just the few impacting the lives of the people in the story are actually mentioned.

The authors of the book of Genesis did not know about dinosaurs. There were not a very scientific lot.

Simple question deserves a simple answer. The people that wrote the Bible didn't know anything about the dinosaurs and God didn't have any need to tell them.

In the tradition of my faith, we believe that the story of Genesis is a parable--symbolic of the relationship between humankind and God and humankind to one another and the animal kingdom. We do not read it as a historical record. Consequently, there is no concern required for Dinosaurs (after all, what do dinosaurs have to do with the relationship between humankind and God?).

It's a good question, though. It certainly is one that led me to a firmer belief in my church's teachings. Thanks for reading. God Bless!

well, it also doesn't mention Giraffes specifically, nor does it mention Dogs, nor cats, nor the platypus. Do you get the point I am trying to make, that just because it isn't mentioned specifically, does not mean it denies that animals existance.

This is one of those things that differ, between science and the bible. It is just a matter of who you believe.
