I was worried because my almost 9 year old daughter only weighs 47 pounds and is 4'1" tall. I asked her pediatrician at the last appointment and she told me that yes she was small in comparison to other kids her age but HER growth chart showed her weight and height to be in proportion. As long as your daughter is not fat ( really fat) and looks a healthy weight then don't worry. You can't fairly compare her to all girls her age because their parents might be shorter or taller. Kids all grow differently my son is almost 7 and is 4"7" and weighs 63 pounds 6" and almost 20 pounds on his older sister, my oldest is 14 and is 5'1" and weighs 120. Just make sure she is healthy, eats nutrisious meals and snacks.

The thing is where is she in her growth charts? has she remained on the same growth curve? some kids will be tall and some small. this is all normal for kids. no tow will be alike if all were in the average range then we'd all be the same height and weight and it would not longer be average but mandatory.
it is more important that she be growing in the same way and style that she has always grown.doctors keep growth charts. some kids are in the 5th percentile and are very small and some are in the 100th percentile and very tall.
there is nothing to worry about unless your child has suddenly jumped or declined form where she has been all along.

Don't pressure her or worry about her weight already, society will do that soon enough. Remember that the taller she is the more she should weigh and if you are still concerned, make an appointment for her to have a physical with her pediatrician.
Instead make sure she is eating a healthy and nutritious meals. Make soda-pop, kool-aid and sweets a special treat not a regular part of her diet. Have fresh fruit, veggies, and nuts available for quick portable snacks and encourage her to make water her drink of choice.
Remember that we can't force our kids to eat new or healthy things but, by setting a good example with our own eating habits and limiting their sugar intake, we can set them on the right path.

My daughter is VERY tall for a six year old, and she weighs 58lbs. Her weight and height are proportional, so if your daughter is tall as well, she should be ok. If she's short or average, she could be a little heavy.

My sister was tiny for her age, she started Kindergarten wearing a 2t tshirt. She weighed 40lbs at 5 years old. So I don't think anything is wrong with your daughter. If she's not fat, then she's not fat and there's nothing to worry about.
Sounds like you have a perfectly healthy kid to me :)

The only one who can accurately answer if your daughter is the "right" size is her doctor. They can look at her growth charts and see the trend. (They worry more about a big jump up or down on the chart, vs. someone who's stayed along the same line all along.) Other factors that come into play are: body frame and family history, among others.

id like to say its normal, if she is taller then most of the kids then most likely its as close to normal as one can be. if you want a definate answer id call a doctors office and find out the average for that age and then for that height, the height average may be different than the age average.. you can also moniter her diet make sure shes not over doing the junky stuff.
to be honest she sounds like a good weight to me.
