Clearly if god is omniscient, then he/she/it would have to know the future. If god is omnipotent, he/she/it controls everything, thus the outcome of every situation.
Clearly praying does not help. See George Carlin's rant on religion:

To JESUSLOVESME: Your possible answers to prayer is:
"Yes, maybe later, and No" - I think that sums up the answer to pretty much every wish we ever have, correct?

To williamzo:
Then God is not omnipotent.

Well
My Answer is:
God Has some characters we all Agree on It and some of it is
His Knowledge is way More Than what our brain can Get to
His Power is way More than the Power we have
in General he is Almighty
so Therefore
From His Knowledge that he knows what we are Going To do
But At The Same Time he Let The choice for us
To Chose Between Do It Or Not To do it
Anyway
That is why sometimes when you Tryin Not To do Any sin
You Find It Hard,,,You Trying Not To do Sin,,But something inside of you Wanting it so bad
so Here comes the use of Our Brain To Think
and decided what is Good for us
and No Matter if we Good or Bad, God still Give us
because everyone no matter what is Your religion is Eats ever day
and also No Matter what we do
God Gives us Million of Favor even before we learn how to ask for a favor
such as
Air
Sun
Eyes
,,,,etc
I Hope my Answer Makes sense to You
Peace

God is the only one that knows the details of the future, we are already victorious (read Revelation). However, we must still fight the good fight.
It's like pro-wrestling, here's how...
The outcome of the match is already predetermined. They both know who wins, but they still have to go through with the match. The only way the chosen winner loses is if they 1) don't show up for the match OR 2) walk away from the ring during the match. Christianity it the same way. In the end, we are the winners but we must still fight the good fight.
Prayer:
No, we can't bargain with God. He is sovereign.
We can petition. However, praying is not an empty check waiting to be written. It is to draw us nearer to God; nearer to His heart and to His will.
When we pray His will, we will get one of two answers...
1) YES and you may have it now...
2) Wait for my perfect time.
When we don't pray His will...
The answer "No" is hard to hear.
Grace to you and God Bless!

I began a job at the bank that I have been praying for. and in 5 days the job was not mines because of whatever reasons.
But I trust God, He knows why it did not work out, I believe that He has something better for me but if I don't seek Him, how will I know.
Yes we can always move God in Prayer and worship and by obeying as well as staying righteous. Look at David, he always moved God.

I do not pray to "change God's mind". I pray for a sense of peace. After reading your screen name, I will undoubtedly pray for your children. You have done them a disservice by not teaching them that Jesus is the Son of God, and that they will only get to Heaven by believing in God and being saved. You will be held accountable if you are leading them in the wrong way. I pray for their souls.

You and I are "Time-Locked" and cannot know the Future, God is Omni_temporal and knows what you are going to do because from His perspective He is in the Future and the Past and the present simultaneously.
But we who are Time-locked do not know this or the future so pray as you would normally do and do not worry about the present.

Yes, if you go to Him with your whole heart, but it is not changing His mind or by persuasion that He grants you Mercy and Grace instead, whole hearted petition accompanied with repentance and humility.
God is not an exacting condemer of His people because we make mistakes for He has given many gifts and one of the best is the opportunity to be forgiven and He still Loves us with His whole Heart*
God asks us,"come lets reason together".
His mighty Hand can turn the Hearts of men
with Love
*His Love and Mercy endures forever*

God's will is still God"s will, but he is a loving father and wants what is best for us. we don't always know what is best for us. that is why we make bad choices. God gave us free will. you can pray for God's will in your life and follow his instructions or you can try it on your own. which do you think is going to be the best choice in the end.

Does God's knowledge of what will happen have any impact on our ability to make decisions or to pray to him for guidance in making those decisions? No.
Regardless of the philosophical arguments, reality has proven to me that prayer does work. So for me, the "what if" arguments don't really have much meaning anymore.
