Realpolitik is a real bugger, ain't it?
Would that making those decisions on a day-to-day basis was as easy as it is to do so with 30 years of hindsight . . .

Didn't Reagan have a type of dementia? hence the bad mistakes that were alloud to be made at the time!! ( that information should be put out there in the media a lot ) maybe it will make the enemy wake up!
26 yrs is a long time, America has matured a lot since then, but a lot of hateful people will never forgive & forget so yes there are a lot of enemies .
I would say the main enemy is Binny of Al Qaeda he has a lot of Anger towards your country going back years & years, he is very angry with all the happenings that went on in those Arab countries & he is filthy rich & has the means to do it all.

Ignorance, Apathy, Pride, Greed, Corruption and Intolerance are our Enemies... both outside and inside our country
Sure, sadly we played the RealPolitik game in the Middle East, Far East, and Central America from the 1940's through 1990's... reacting to Soviet actions and puppet-governments.
Yes we supported Afghan rebels to oust the Soviet Army and overthrow the Communist Government. Please note that THIS program was started under the CARTER administration AS was the change in policy towards the Iranian government when the corrupt government of the Shah fell.
Now Trade and Corporate issues guide us... we NEED the oil for our economy to function.
China will ignore Iran's Human Rights issues (heck China doesn't care about their OWN) to secure rights and access to Iran's Oil... AND a chance to gain hard currency thru sale of military equipment to the Iranians and their terrorist allies.
I toured the Gulf for a number of years prior to and after the first Gulf War while in the Navy... I loved the people of Baharain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, and the UAE... friendly, polite, honorable. We as Americans just need to be aware of local customs and respect them.

Actually, the Reagan admin gave financial and weapons support to Afghanistan to help them in their fight against the USSR, who were then (and now?) the big bad wolf. They then pulled the plug on financial support which might have helped Afghanistan to resist the fundamentalist monsters who seized control of that country. But,
Who is the US's main enemy? Itself, my friend. Causing more damage and upheaval world wide this very minute and will do no more than lash back in force. Diplomacy is the answer.
(Added Note) The first Desert Storm, to free Kuwait- a country that doesn't respect women's rights and doesn't let them drive? Do you really think it was about human rights? or oil?

Ourselves. we've human beings claiming whites are at fault, and how convient they forget approximately each white soldier that died interior the civil conflict, so as that they may well be unfastened. Or how regarding the human beings in Missisippi that have been killed. one million black guy, 2 whites, and a white female who grew to become into the spouse. Ring any bells? Oh, and how approximately WHITE pupils who have been attacked with the aid of hoses and police canines, because of the fact they believed the government grew to become into incorrect, and now and back, gave their lives. And it extremely is how human beings tutor their as consequently those human beings? As for "liberals," somebody needs to talk out and wake human beings up. the country relies on the perception of variety, of being a 'melting pot,' the place *ALL* recommendations are allowed. Telling those those that they are able to't share their recommendations is giving up the undemanding thought of what democracy is meant to be! If we are no longer sharing recommendations, then what are we doing claiming to be a democracy? too lots concern with "the base line," no longer adequate on "doing what's nice for the greater suitable stable."

I would say that the United States' main enemy are those Americans who aid and abet (whether deliberately or unknowingly) active foreign terrorists.
They are responsible for the deaths of countless Americans and other people by encouraging terrorists to continue their attacks. They, for whatever reason, seek to "legitimize" the terrorists' illegitimate cause.

I think China will be in a few years. They have a lot of things going on over there, and with our focus on Iran, Iraq and other middle eastern countries, we're going to get blindsided.

Ignorance of the masses! AND Apathy of the masses!
I'll expound if you please. Apathy leads to ignorance and breeds more apathy. If what you just said was taught by our public school teachers then the kids may understand that the government needs to be watched for inconsistencies. They would also pay more attention to who they are electing and vote out the representatives who are guilty of such inconsistency.
