Do you think it was a wise idea for the FDA to allow the 72-Hour pill to be purchased without a doctors consent and or evaluation. It is now available over the counter!

I am a mother to a 14 year old daughter. I would be horified if my daughter was able to use this as a form of birth control. Tho shes not sexually active I still would hate to see how this is abused. I see girls in her school having kids and having abortions. Both to me are not exceptable. These girls in my opion are lacking parenting some where.

the did the right thing finally and get out the political tent
and that what we doctor say
The documents, which contain the scientific conclusions of three separate levels of FDA reviewers, show that the scientists disagreed in particular with the contention that there was not enough information to assess how easier availability of the drug would affect the sexual behavior of young teenagers. That was the primary reason given for the FDA's dismissal of the application as "non-approvable."

One top official wrote that by raising the issue of teenage use, former commissioner Mark B. McClellan and Center for Drug Evaluation and Research acting Director Steven K. Galson appeared to be introducing a different standard for evaluating Plan B than the FDA had applied to other contraceptives.

"The agency has not [previously] distinguished the safety and efficacy of Plan B and other forms of hormonal contraception among different ages of women of childbearing potential, and I am not aware of any compelling scientific reason for such a distinction in this case," wrote John Jenkins, director of the FDA's Office of New Drugs, which oversees all drug reviews for the agency.

yes, it is right. Would you rather pay hundreds of dollars in taxes to support trailer trash kids or would you instead prefer abortion clinics overloaded with teens?
It is much less dangerous than taking normal birth control. It has side effects like nausea, weakness, and drowsiness, but they are not dangerous and last no longer than few hours.
The downside is that it is not as efficient as normal birth control, so it should never be used as a primary birth control. However, condoms do break and leak, so when something like that happens anything that reduces the chances of pregnancy should be available.

I think it better than girls going to get abortions when they have a baby growing inside them with a heart beat. We cant stop young girls getting pregnant and Id rather they take that pill than bring a baby into the world that they don't want! Think about it. If you think its so sad that someone take that pill as a precaution when they may not even be pregnant - its much sadder for an unwanted baby to be born or for a baby with a heartbeat to be ripped from its womb prematurely!!!! Cmon!!!

They wouldn't allow it if it wasn't safe. I do think it's a wise idea because it sure beats paying taxes for that mother to sit on her butt all day. What is wrong with it? Shouldn't it be her right to choose? I think this is great and will help avoid more then a few partial-birth abortions!

NOPE! A child should NOT be able to purchase such a thing.. I don;t think that anyone should be able to. Even if their is an age restriction people will still find a way to get it.
I would never want my daughter doing something like that without my knowledge.

Is age regulated or do you have to be 18 or so??

Yes I think it's right you are suppose to take that pill right away and doctors book appt weeks in advance. I am the mother of four and I would much rather my girls have the option I had I chose to be the mother of four but would my girls choose that thats their decision.

The FDA gave it the right for a woman to choose.

oh please the FDA approved the patch and it turned out to kill a few women. Now kids will do the same with alcohol, ask people to buy it for them. I think is wrong for it to be out there. Its saying that's is OK for us to abuse our body!!!!

It shouldnt be allowed...people are gonna kill themselves by taking meds without proper medical consultation first. Its crazy, you never know what is going on in your body, so you shouldnt want to risk things anyway...just my opinion
