Okay, I just have a statement, that sometimes I feel racist for thinking/saying. Do you find it a little nerveracking that the Islamic Koran says, that all non-belivers, must be gone, or something like that. I don't remember. I mean, I have a Muslim friend (persian), and she is reallly nice. So, am I racist? I have also noticed, that she and I haven't been hanging out a lot. Maybe becuase my BFF is hindu. And she hates hindus? I am russian orthodox, and very confused.

You don't seem to have a problem with race so I would say "no"

All religions have problems with each other and that may be cause of your own tribulations.

It sounds like your Persian friend is racist and not you. You have managed to overcome the barriers of three different religious points of view but your friend " hates " Hindus, I would say that you are doing a great job of multiculturalism and with it hopefully a bit more peace and understanding, keep up the good work. Remember there will always be some fear of the unknown and that goes for cultures too.

No, you are not racist for feeling that way, racism is feeling animosity toward people who look different than you and behaving accordingly to those feelings. It's mindbogling to me how the word RACISM has been diluted these days, interestingly enough, by people who throughout history had been discriminated against. I'm a non white and I have been a victim of racism by both white and non white people. So just be nice, and remember that we are all racist in one way or another, but most of us manage to keep those feelings inside and try to get along with one another. Peace

No, true Muslims are kind and tolerant people. You are not being racist, but you are generalizing, taking the actions of radical islamists and projecting them onto the entire muslim population. Muslims and Hindus misunderstand each other, get both of them together and talk about their religions. Hate is the child of ignorance, by helping them learn more about other religions perhaps they can overcome their dislike of other religions.

Perhaps not racist, but this statement sure does prove to be ignorant.

I think everyone has their biases. That being said, your statement does not sound racist. It is true, the Koran does say that. Merely repeating a fact does not make one racist!

I don't know your friend's motivations for staying away. Perhaps you could ask her? And then just go on from there.

Dont worry, I think if she is not hanging out with u that much is coz she is a muslim and she is not supossed to do that any way.

Our life style is different. And to avoid being racist what u can do is learn more about religions. Is important that u feel u are doing the right thing in ur life.

In light of all of the things going on in the middle east it is hard to not develope a little predjudice or at the very least unease around Muslims. It is too bad that all religions can't get along and just agree to disagree on some things. God will sort it all out when we get to heaven so why sweat it here on earth when we should be worried about helping others and making this planet a better place to live on?

Who knows? Only you yourself know whether you are racist. You certainly sound confused.

Why not ask your Muslim friend why you aren't spending time together instead of assuming that she hates your bff because they are a Hindu.

Religion sure does make things confusing doesn't it?

It's hard not to have some sort of racist feelings when you see what some people do, or how they hate someone simply for being of a different faith/culture
