Snails are part of the Phylum Molluska (soft-bodied), Class Gastropoda (stomach-foot). It can be said that they "Eat on the run", since they move by extending their stomach and attach it to something, and then retract their stomach to move their body. Anything they pick up along the way is lunch.

Yes, they have a specially modified tongues called a radula, it is filled with a substance which is known as chitin and it works by dragging the tongue along the surface and rasping at the material underneath almost like a conveyor belt. Its quite neat!

snails have somthing called radula in its mouth, used for grinding up its food. its like a rough tongue like a file with rows of tiny teeth, which it uses to scrape off leaves and flowers to eat. they also chew on fruits and young plant bark.
