I met some really cool Muslims in Iraq. It just bothered me that they thought a female soldier was so taboo. I think they only respected me because of my weapon. I had a nice male friend named Safar who would always buy me trinkets and clothes and perfumes. However, I think he was trying to woo me. Overall, decent guy though. I never got pimp slapped, but then again, I always had a 9mm and/or a M-16 on me.
Here in the States, I knew several black Muslims. One I lived beside as a child and always saw the man beating the woman outside. I was not allowed to come in their gate and play with their daughter because I was not Muslim. The father used to chase me with sticks when I came in their yard to get my ball. They had a daughter my same age, and she was never allowed to play with me. Once she turned 9, I never say her outside with out a cloak on again.
My aunt married a Muslim man. He didn't last long in our family. He tried to beat my aunt (non-muslim) because she didn't wish to convert. My uncles heard about this and took him out into the yard and beat him up pretty badly. They divorced a week later.

I've had the pleasure of making the aquaintance of a few Muslims and found them to be good, honest people who are trying their best to live their lives to the fullest, like any other person.
In any culture, religion, ethnicity and race, there are good and bad people. Muslims are no different.

I had a Libyan roommate in college. I enjoyed a chicken-rice-okra dish that he made very much. As long as we didn't discuss the Koran, he was peaceful.
Understand that anyone who is not Islam is infidel, however. There is hope for you, but if you demonstrate antagonism towards Mohamed, you could forfeit your life!

people are the same wherever you go. You cannot predetermine or reach a conclusion about someone based on their religion.
Christian fundamentalists drive me crazy, but it's not Christianity's fault, it's the individual.
grant every individual the same benefits that you yourself expect, then past judgement based on that person's decisions.
Too often we blame external forces and refuse to accept fault of own.
