wasn't what he believes and realize that he was quoting someone else. He even said that he didn't agree with the quote. It seems like people just want to bash Catholics. Same as usual.

People will realize it when those of their same faith stand up and say, "HEY! You're wrong here. Don't overreact!"

This entire scenario is just ridiculous. It seems as if any excuse will do to riot, demonstrate, and terrorize.

I'm also tired of feeling like Catholics have to tiptoe around every other religion, but just sit on our thumbs when our own faith is attacked. THE POPE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!

Thanks for the opportunity to say that. Good question.

Looks to me like everyone has decided to have a common enemy, and are forgetting that they've been bashing the Muslim nations the entire time, and have behaved in a manner that says they really believe what the Pope said....so, why all the fuss???
Or is it that the majority who have been against the Muslims are now changing their minds??

I usually am diametrically opposed to anything the pope says as I do not believe him to be infallible, however I think he hit the towel on the head. Whether he really believes it or not it was a statement of truth and the things the muslims have done since have done nothing but prove him 100% accurate.

I disagree.

The pope is an intelligent man.

He chose the quote on purpose, and it was a deliberate attack on islam.

He does say that he disagrees with the quote, but acts like an obscurantist. Why would he even bother choosing that specific of a quote if he didn't feel it was relevant to a point he wanted to make?

He's not the victim here, and that's an unnatractive posture for him to take.

He's the aggressor, and miscalculated where the line was, and he crossed it.

It's like a "Wife Beating" situation.

When a man is a wife beater he is convincing to his friends and family that he is good and that his wife is a bad animal. Should the wife stand up and say, "In the past you hit me", then he will use this to fuel his anger. As we have seen, the Muslims in the Palestinian area's did lash out and attack. Sure, as always, the wife say's "Deeply Sorry", but he is an angry man is still beating her because he is plagued with the evil one. Violence is his sin.

This is because sin fuels itself with it's lust for its sin.

Listen to the violent words of Muslims: "We shall break the cross and spill the wine ... God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome ... (May) God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen," said the statement, posted on Sunday on an Internet site often used by al Qaeda and other militant groups. <1>

Fallaciously, people are naturally inclined to believe people that quote someone, believing in that quote.

People want to bash everyone. I don't think it's unique to Catholics.

You know, people know he was quoting, but even then, in these very "sensitive" times where just one word will launch a bomb, even the Pope should watch out what he says.

Amen to that they just love to bash Christians. Truthfully I don't care what he said .If it was against the Moslems, they deserve it for what they did on 9/11.

I haven't been following this story too closely, but he said something about Muslims being violent?

And then they all get violent in protest... strange.

It makes me wonder why he chose to say it then? If he didn't believe it or whatever, what was his reasoning for talking about it then?

It's pretty easy to infuriate muslims. I don't much stock into their reactions any more.. Don't these people have jobs? How do they have so much time to riot in the streets?
