You're forgetting that Muslims believe that they have to right to insult everyone and anyone they please. They think even the insulted should agree with them.
But just say anything, no matter how minor, and they all run around burning and destroying like a bunch of idiots. Did you ever see the Isrealis do that when pictures of Rabbis eating babies came out in the newspapers ?
That shows the difference in cultures. Sorry, I should have said - - - the difference between culture and the lack of it.
When insulted, cultured people sit back and smile, figuring the other doesn't know any better. The uncultured scream and yell, make threats and carry on like Muslims.

He was quoting some Ottoman texts I believe, not making remarks on them either way. He was showing how any religion can be given a bad name and how xians and jews had scripture that could be used for the same purposes.

Now it has been taken out of context and blown out of proportion. Churches are being burned down, threats of slitting the pope's throat have been made and nuns have been murdered. I wonder if these people feel the need to prove what they "think" the pope said right...

well I've just read in another question that apparently he didn't mean what he said, he didn't even believe it, and apparently it was said by someone else first. So why did he even bother saying it? He must have known the reaction it would receive

Oh name calling, how mature. No, I know a Muslim friend who is genuinly afraid that the pope is recreating a crusade mentality. If you were jewish and the german chancellor started talking about how bad Judaism is you would probably fear a repeat of history, right?
