It's water mostly. My cat does this occassionally and it's usually a sign that he needs to bring up a hair ball that has upset his stomach...only the hair ball isn't coming up. And he has a fairly empty stomach. If your cat had just eaten , then it would have been food. (or the hairball) I wouldn't worrry too much. Cats are always trying to vomit up something, and sometimes theres just water there.

Cats get distemper and it will kill them. If that is what it has you had better get it to the vet fast. I had 3 cats die an just a few hours. The other thing that it could be is poison, also take them to the vet. Or rabies, still see the vet. All of these things except rabies will go very fast once it gets to the white foam faze. If the animal goes lucid then you have waited too long.

some things to check....is your cats gumline pink like yours? IF it is white, yellow or dark red this is a sign that something bigger could be happening and yes, you will need a vets help. Also, the loose skin between the shoulders should be tested for dehydration. Do this by simply picking up the loose skin between your fingers(pull up slightly) and twist then let go...if your pet if properly hydrated the skin with untwist and fall back in to place between the shoulders. If it is slow or stays twisted you need more help.

my cats do this too [usually on the bedroom carpet] think they've been eating grass and trying to sick up a furball. Mine have had the foamy white stuff with a bit of grass in it too! It's nothing to worry about!

If your cat is otherwise healthy, then it's nothing to worry about. It is just bile usually from eating grass but not always.

In an older or an unhealthy cat this can be a sign of heart failure but it usually also contains mucus.

Poison can make cats foam at the mouth- it maight be a good idea to take your cat to the vets to be checked out-it will put your mind at ease.

Perhaps they need de-worming.....

Are they getting sick all the time? Are they keeping food down? Check to be sure they aren't dehydrated which can easily happen. Pinch the skin on the back if it stays 'up' it means they are dehydrated and definately need a vets attention asap. If it falls down flat right away they are well hydrated.

This isn't uncommon. Your cat has probably been eating grass or is trying to bring up a hairball. Unless he/she is obviously in distress or acting lethargic - I wouldn't worry about it, it's perfectly normal.

May well have ate some grass. Is there any grass in amongst the foam / sick?

Is it pure white or does it have a yellow tinge to it? If your cat seems fine in other ways (eating properly/acting as normal) then I wouldn't worry too much, but if you notice any other symptoms please see your vet as soon as possible!
My cat's being treated for hepatitis at the moment (she seems to be doing fine) - it started with her coughing up foamy biley-stuff then she went off her food and deteriorated quite fast.
Hope it sorts itself out soon x
