You can do anything you want as long as you are willing to pay the consequences.

What's more annoying in a play: a ringing cellphone or a fight?

Many times I have fanasized I have night vision goggles, a paintball gun and season tickets to the symphony or our local theatre league. I cannot tell you how many times I have been distracted during a performance or dinner by someone on a cell phone.

NOBODY needs to use their cell on during a performance or in a restaurant. Put it on vibrate people- and for god's sake leave the dining room/theatre before answering the call. If it's truly an emergency they would have dialed 9-1-1.

I could do the same thing to ther person whose cell phone goes off in church. Just plain tacky.

Call the usher and get them kicked out. That behavior is just plain rude.

But don't put your self into the poor house by getting in to a fight with them in front of hundreds of witnesses.

Note who it is, and during the intermission point them out in a loud voice. "Hey, there's the person whose phone went off!"

Shame is a powerful deterrant. It won't help the current situation, but you may be aiding future theatregoers.

Yes, unless they apologize after the show to everyone sitting around them. You also have the right to rip the phone out of their hand and destroy it.

No you can't! Everyone within thirty feet of him staring, with dirty looks on their faces will give him the message, though.

I often want to hurt them, too... but, maybe they just forgot or had a family emergency or their own stupid reasons... whatever... just trip them as they're walking up the aisle...
