In WA State you do not need a parent to go get birth control. They also have a plan called Take Charge where you are able to get free birth control. The program evaluates your income and you are charged for birth control and the exam based on your income. If you have little to no income it should be free. Other than that, birth control at PP has always been very reasonably charged. I used to pay $10 a month for pills. Then I got health insurance and started going to a regular OBGYN. I paid almost $50 a pack at the pharmacy! And my insurance didn't cover my prescription. Planned Parenthood is definitely going to be way cheaper.

Planned Parenthood has a program called Take Charge that offers free or sliding scale birth control. Whether or not you need a parent may depend on you age and/or your state. Call PP and ask them.

You do have to see a doctor and get a check up in NY state. Also, PP offers a family health plan to people who have no insurance and little pay. If you are under your parents' insurance, I'm not sure if you'd qualify. Try calling them- the people are very helpful and everything is confidential.

Generally you do not need a parent to go with you just to go. Pills could be income based...which could require additional info. Call your local center for detailed questions, they all seem to differ a little.

i'm not sure of other states...but in california there's a program called "Family Pact" it's a state funded program which provides things which will prevent STI's or pregnancy free of charge.....meaning the pill would be free if you went into the clinic and filled out the paperwork for family pact...if you already have insurance.....make sure you don't put that you have insurance on the family pact form or you will get rejected for free of cost services.

You should look them up online for an office in your area & for their pricing information. You do NOT need to bring a parent & the information is confidential.
